Information Publication Scheme

Information Publication Scheme

Part 2 of the Freedom of Information Act 1982 (FOI ACT) establishes an Information Publication Scheme (IPS) for Australian Government Agencies subject to the FOI Act. The IPS promotes an open and transparent culture across government. DHA continues to build a pro-disclosure culture by publishing a broad range of information available to the community, including its Agency Plan which explains how the IPS is administered.

Under sections 8(2)(c) and 8(2)(j) of the FOI Act, we are required to publish a description of the functions and powers of the agency and operational information (the rules, guidelines, practices and precedents relating to our functions and powers[BL2] ). Our reports and responses to Parliament

Under sections 8(2)(e) and 8(2)(h) of the FOI Act, we are required to publish Annual Reports laid before the Parliament, and other information routinely provided to the Parliament.

Routinely requested information and disclosure log

Under sections 8(2)(g) and 11C of the FOI Act, we are required to publish information to which the agency routinely gives access in response to FOI requests and the disclosure log of information that has been released under the FOI Act.

The Freedom of Information disclosure log lists documents the agency has previously released through FOI requests.

Our Freedom of information page provides further information about how to make a request to the Agency for access to documents under the FOI Act.

Consultation

Under section 8(2)(f) of the FOI Act, we are required to publish information about consultation arrangements that enable members of the public to comment on specific policy proposals for which we are responsible.
