04 April 2019 DHA appoints new Managing Director

The Defence Housing Australia (DHA) Board of Directors today announced the appointment of Mr Barry Jackson as DHA Managing Director for a five year term commencing 13 May 2019.

DHA Chairman the Hon Sandy Macdonald said Mr Jackson’s extensive experience in service delivery and property roles in both the public service and the private sector would be an asset to DHA.

‘The Board is confident that Mr Jackson’s skills and experience will enhance the service DHA provides to Australian Defence Force members and their families, and to investors,’ said Mr Macdonald.

Mr Jackson is currently the Deputy Secretary, Service Delivery Operations with the Department of Human Services. His public service career includes other senior executive roles at the Department of Human Services, the Department of Finance and the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

Mr Jackson also has over 25 years’ experience in the private sector primarily in the areas of construction, property and strategic and business process management. He was Chief Executive Officer for UGL Services Australia and New Zealand, which is Australia’s largest provider of property management services.

‘DHA does an outstanding job supporting Defence capability and providing value to its shareholders,’ said Mr Jackson.

‘I look forward to joining DHA and working closely with the Board, senior executives, staff and stakeholders to continue to build on DHA’s success.’

Mr Jackson’s appointment follows a competitive selection process. Ms Jan Mason retired as DHA Managing Director in January 2019.
