The Breezes Muirhead community has raised $9,000 for Royal Darwin Hospital at its annual Family Fun Day, enabling the Hospital to purchase a state-of-the-art portable ultrasound for its Paediatrics Ward.
The ultrasound is named ‘Accuvein’ because it assists medical staff to accurately find a suitable vein in which to place a cannula or to collect a blood sample, without touching the patient.
'It is thanks to Breezes Muirhead that our Paediatrics Ward will be the first ward at Royal Darwin Hospital to own an Accuvein, which will make such a positive difference to the children’s experience of hospital,” said Christine Dennis, Chief Operating Officer, Royal Darwin Hospital.
'The Accuvein will undoubtedly reduce the stress and pain of multiple attempts at cannulation for many of our young patients,” she said.
The annual Family Fun Day, which was attended by more than 2,000 people, is a great opportunity for the community to come together.
Contributions to the fundraising were also made by Breezes Muirhead’s Display Village partner builders; About Homes, Kassiou Homes, Killarney Homes, Matrix Homes Saroukos Homes, The House Factory and Investa Land.

The high attendance at this year’s Family Fun Day and the attendees’ eagerness to support the fundraising initiatives demonstrate that community spirit is already strong,' Mr Perkovic said.
