02 August 2014 Crimson Hill wins award for excellence in residential development marketing

Defence Housing Australia’s (DHA’s) residential development Crimson Hill in Lindfield, Sydney was recently recognised as one the state’s best, winning the award for excellence in marketing (residential estates) from the Urban Development Institute of Australia (UDIA) NSW.

The masterplanned community is located on an environmentally and architecturally significant 12.6 hectare elevated site, adjacent to the University of Technology Sydney Ku-ring-gai Campus, Lane Cove National Park and existing community of Lindfield.

Upon completion in 2016-17, Crimson Hill will comprise five distinct residential precincts with 345 dwellings – mainly medium density – a FIFA accredited sportsfield, a multi-million dollar community centre and an education campus.

The judges were impressed with the innovative way DHA worked to keep history alive through its Crimson Hill marketing campaign, and how effectively the local community was engaged.

‘In a tribute to the Battle of Lone Pine in [the] World War I, DHA has retained history for another generation by naming each residential precinct throughout the development after a Victoria Cross medal recipient,’ they said.

‘The project offered a great example of storytelling through marketing, and offered residents and the wider community an insight into Australia’s past.

‘On top of this, the display suite was well presented with an intelligently-designed interior that showcased the quality of this astute residential offering.’

DHA Managing Director Peter Howman was delighted to receive industry recognition for the organisation’s efforts in residential development marketing.

‘Crimson Hill is a flagship development project for DHA,’ Mr Howman said. ‘It is not only our first apartment building project in Sydney, but a unique site that has demanded meticulous attention to detail, planning, innovation, stakeholder engagement and teamwork.

‘The Crimson Hill brand not only honours the distinguished forebears of many of its future residents, as crimson is the colour of the Victoria Cross ribbon, but also celebrates the striking floral hues found across the site.

‘DHA strives to be innovative in its approach to not just building houses, but communities. The project’s outstanding marketing and sales success demonstrates DHA’s calibre as one of the largest residential developers in the country, and its ability to create desirable and special places people want to call home.

‘Congratulations to all our staff and contractors involved in achieving this outstanding result.’
