21 January 2019 DHA hosts Akuna Vista Cricket Clinic with Big Bash Cricketers

Howzat! DHA, one of Australia’s leading property developers, stumped up with the goods over the weekend, hosting a free cricket clinic at Schofields Park, for boys and girls aged 5 to 15.

The clinic, inspired by DHA’s Akuna Vista development and led by former Australian all-rounder and Head Coach of Elite Cricket, Jason Krejza, also featured guest appearances and demonstrations from Big Bash League players Gurinder Sandhu and Arjun Nair.

Growing up together in Western Sydney, Gurinder and Arjun shared a long history of playing cricket together, before going on to represent both Australian national and state cricket teams.

‘The Western Sydney region was the first home for Arjun and I; it’s pretty special to be back here, creating lifelong memories with the future generation of cricket players in Schofields,’ said cricketer Gurinder Sandhu.

The cricketing duo, who met with more than 250 of their young cricket fans at the clinic, said they were immediately impressed with the level of facilities planned for the Akuna Vista community.

‘The best communities I’ve been a part of throughout my life have been built around, or been brought together through sports events,’ Mr Sandhu said.

Darren Youens, Senior Development Manager at DHA, said the purpose of the free school holiday event was to raise awareness of Akuna Vista, a new master-planned community at Schofields which is earmarked to provide the local area with its very own sporting hub. The proposed new facilities at Akuna Vista include: two multipurpose playing fields suitable for cricket and all football codes, a regional netball facility, tennis courts, plus ample parking and a neighbourhood club house.

‘We are committed to creating healthy, vibrant, sustainable communities and we’ve designed Akuna Vista to be a haven for sports-loving families and nature lovers. With 66 hectares of open green space, pocket parks and picnic areas boasting barbeques and playgrounds, plus a network of walkways and bike trails; the whole family will be spoilt for choice when it comes to enjoying the outdoors,’ said Mr Youens.

Planning for the family focused Akuna Vista development also includes the zoning of a proposed state of the art primary school.

Only a handful of land lots from the Akuna Vista Stage 1 release are still available for purchase. Stage 2 of the development is due to be released to the public in the second quarter of 2019. To find out more and stay up to date with the Akuna Vista release schedule sign-up at akunavista.com.au
