Construction starts this week on the latest residential development in Warner, as Defence Housing Australia (DHA) breaks ground at the corner of Kremzow and Old North Road.
A masterplan was unveiled at a community information session held at Pendicup Community Centre last week.
The former CSR quarry site is earmarked for a high quality residential development comprising 465 new housing lots, ranging from 320 sqm to 660 sqm.
The 35 hectare site will be developed in stages over the next four years. Its environmentally-sensitive design features one hectare of central landscaped parkland and four pocket parks as well as an extensive network of cycle and walking paths that flow seamlessly into the award-winning Warner Lakes community immediately next door.
DHA Managing Director Peter Howman said the residential development would add to the supply of quality housing in the sought-after Warner area and provide much-needed accommodation for Defence members and their families close to the CBD and Enoggera Barracks.
“Approximately one third of the new dwellings will be reserved for Defence members and their families,” Mr Howman said. “These families often move around a lot so the new homes will be selectively distributed throughout the area to help families create stronger ties to their local community.”
DHA has teamed up with Warner Lakes’ developer Peet Limited to manage and market the project. The company was founded more than a century ago and has grown to become Australia’s largest residential land specialist, with award-winning projects across South-East Queensland and around the country.
Peet Managing Director and CEO Brendan Gore said the project would capitalise on the popularity of Warner Lakes offering a similar atmosphere and continuity of design.
Land sales will open early next year with the first houses expected to be completed in late 2014.
